Introducing DecadesOut! New York, NY — April 22, 2009 We are thrilled to contact you regarding the launch of DecadesOut, a new non-profit organization focusing on the development of film and theatre projects based on socially relevant topics of a humanitarian and scientific nature. The Mission The objective of DecadesOut is to raise public awareness of the cultural impact between science and humanity and to transform the discourse between them through an artistic platform; to explore related issues that intimately affect our existence in this world; and to discover facets of our life on earth that may have been otherwise hidden. The Projects We are currently in development on two documentary projects. Begun in 2005, New Land, New Life involves the mass migration of New Orleans residents displaced during Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath and their stories in creating new lives for themselves. The Future DecadesOut exists so artists from diverse backgrounds can freely explore the relationship between humanity and science. The work of DecadesOut looks toward the future and throughout history to not only find where the power of science acts in accord with the spirit of humankind, but also where lessons can be learned to avoid the great potential for harm that science possesses when its power is uncontrollable or misused. It also examines the role that scientists, engineers, explorers and educators have and will play as the human ambassadors to science in the understanding, of this fundamental relationship. |
