Call for Entries open until February 21st, 2014: The Science of Horror Film Festival 2014
NEW YORK -- DecadesOut announces the call for entries for the 3rd International Science of Horror Film Festival in New York City. The festival highlights the horror and science fiction filmmaking process.
This year, the Science of Horror Film Festival will take place under the banner of DecadesOut's year long exploration of the systems of humanity. Dubbed the Systems Festival, the festival will include film screenings, art exhibitions and live performances. Also happening will be panels of scientists and artists discussing important issues of the day. See the Systems Festival 2014 page for more information.
Eligible films can be narratives or documentaries, features or shorts. Submissions should have a connection with Science, Science Fiction, or Horror (such as inspiration, theme, plot or character).
The new Science of Horror website will be launched on November 14th showcasing accepted entries. All entry requirements and award details are available at Submission Details. If you would like to submit your film, please email us at
All submissions will be reviewed by an expert panel, and winners will be chosen in five categories -- Excellence in Science, Excellence in Horror, Best Student Film, Audience Favorite and Best of Fest-The Science of Horror Award -- will be announced March 2014. The winning films will be shown at the Annual Science of Horror Film Festival and party, taking place in New York City.
Along with the public screening, top winners receive film-related prizes and special video commentary from a panel including an icon of horror and/or science. All entries will have an extended online presence on the OverAirTV website in a special group dedicated to the festival, receive a filmmaker profile, and get an HD capable online presence on the festival website.
The deadline for entries is February 21st, 2014. Entry fee is $25 per film, $15 for students with valid ID.
